There was a message from the Police to make us aware that some of the so called charity collectors who leave bags to be filled by us with clothes etc are bogus and the real charities are missing out.

I noticed we had some bags left with us last week or the week before and did not look as to which charity it was and – of course – they may have been ‘the real thing’.

The other message was to say that a number of ladies had their purse stolen at the check-outs at the local supermarkets as they left their bag open. If would be nice if we could avoid one of our residents loosing their purse.

A couple of items that have come to our attention over recent days are: One of our coordinators mentioned that one of their neighbours had taken from their waste bin a metal tool that had broken. The point being that they were upset that somebody had been into their garden and been snooping in their bin and would they have been looking around for anything else? So it may be an idea to be a little more on the look out for scrap metal people who invade your premises. Keep things where possible out of sight and not even poking out from your bin! But do report anything to 101 as it does help the Police monitor an increase and which areas. Many coordinators have mentioned that they have been receiving quite an increase in nuisance calls allegedly suggesting they are phoning from microsoft and you have a serious problem with your computer, myself included. I know we have been alerted to these type of calls in the past but just thought we ought to say again, DO NOT have anything to do with them. They are looking to gain access to your computer to take personal details and microsoft would never make such a call anyway.
